Free Time??

Want to finish reading my novel, want to write in my blog, want to dance to the music, want to watch the sunset, want to run in the rain, want to work on my scrapbooks, want to organize my bedroom, etc., etc., etc.  "I'll do it when I have some free time..."   What??!!  Free time?  My free time is running the kids back and forth, actually subbing in a class of well behaved students, waiting on Sebastian to get out of school, waiting on Emma to finish with her soccer practice, any 'in between' time I can get, I have learned, is free time.  And even now, as I write this blog, I have created the free time.  Because in reality, the laundry is overflowing, there are dishes in the sink, my bedroom is a fright and the bathroom could use a really nice touch up...A quote I always remember is from Mr. Holland's Opus when Mr. Holland says, "I started teaching so I could write my music during my free time." and then his good friend, the football coach tells him, "I can't remember the last time I had that was free."  Ahh, the look on Mr Holland's face, utter disappointment.  But the truth is there is no free time, I must find it, for there it will be.  And surely when I'm old and gray or white (I refuse to get bald, I will use rogaine, if I must) I'm sure the time will be slow moving with seemingly plenty of it, if the Good Lord allows me to get there, that is.  So, I have created some 'free' time and have chosen to write with it today.  Tomorrow, my novel, then maybe the dance, or the sunset, or maybe even get some organization completed, at any rate, thank you, God, for the time of my life, You are Awesome!  "I will dance, I will sing, to be mad for my King, nothing Lord is hindering this passion in my soul!"  That was my phone, time to pick up Emma, she's getting out early...Free time!

  1. When I was in college, one of my instructors told us we wouldn't ever have more free time than we did when we were in college. I didn't believe him! Now if I ever want time to myself, I have to schedule it. One cool thing I learned in college was how to prioritize, a skill which certainly comes in handy now (and my dirty dishes will vouch for that)! :)
